Here We Go - FT Says Ford Considering Building Land Rovers Or Volvos In China

NEW YORK December 17, 2003; Dow Jones reported that Ford Motor Co. is considering building Land Rovers or Volvos in China as it attempts to tap the market for luxury vehicles in the world's most populous country, the Financial Times reports in an article on its Web site Wednesday.

Sources told the newspaper that Ford is studying which brand would be most suited to the Chinese market, but stressed that the study was unlikely to be completed until late next year. Ford could reject the idea, but senior executives were optimistic it would go ahead, the FT said.
