Professional Truck Drivers and AAA Demonstrate Safety Measures for Nashville Drivers
Mack Truck's Program Visits Nashville to Save Lives on Local Highways Thousands of vehicles travel I-40 through Nashville each day. Most automobile drivers were never taught what they can do to avoid initiating an accident with a tractor-trailer. Who: AAA Auto Club South, Professional truck drivers, the Tennessee Department of Safety, the American Trucking Associations and the Tennessee Trucking Association. What: A demonstration of highway safety measures will be conducted for local news media, including "ride-alongs" in tractor- trailers, as part of the national Share the Road tour visiting Nashville, TN. When: Thursday, January 15th, 10:00 AM Where: Venture Express, Inc., 131 Industrial Blvd., La Vergne, TN (see driving directions below.) Summary: AAA Auto Club South will join professional truck drivers with millions of miles of accident-free driving to demonstrate safety measures critical to saving lives on Nashville's highways. The demonstration will include truck ride-alongs for news reporters and photographers. Safety demonstration will include tips on blind spots, safe-merging techniques, and stopping and following distances. The safety advice is critical for Nashville area drivers because: * 35% of all truck-involved highway fatalities occur in a truck's blind spots (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) * Up to 75% of all truck-involved fatalities are initiated by an error on the part of the car drivers (AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety) * Watching this demonstration will help reduce accidents Directions: From I-24 east take Exit 64.
