The Fuel of the Future: Hydrogen Vehicles Ride and Drive at Hydrogen Expo in Hollywood

Free admission for the public - Schwarzenegger invited to speak at conference - exhibition sold out

ALPEN, Germany, April 16 -- The cars we drive tomorrow will be on display at the 2nd Hydrogen Expo USA and 15th Annual U.S. Hydrogen Conference from April 26 to 30 in Los Angeles, CA. Car manufacturers like GM, Honda and Ford are bringing a small fleet of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles for a ride and drive around Hollywood, giving conference delegates and the public the chance to experience clean and safe mobility.

In addition to the vehicles, Hydrogen Expo USA showcases the latest in hydrogen production, infrastructure, storage, safety and fuel cell technologies. More than 50 exhibitors from North America, Europe and Asia will participate in the event held at the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel. Exhibits include a hydrogen generator splitting H2O (water) into its constituent parts hydrogen and oxygen, a hydrogen internal combustion engine, a small methanol fuel cell generating 150W to power a laptop computer, and much more leading-edge technology. Admission to the exhibit hall is free of charge for the public on Thursday, April 29.

"This year the exhibition is sold out," comments Ines Freesen of Hydrogen Expo USA organizer Freesen & Partner GmbH. "Everyone committed to a clean hydrogen energy future will be there, and we see a growing interest of European and Asian companies to become involved in the North American market."

Attendance to the conference is projected to break last year's record figure of 640 delegates. The Plenary sessions boast a list of heavy hitters from the hydrogen industry including Don Paul, Vice President and CTO of ChevronTexaco; Ben Knight, Vice President of Honda R&D Americas; Byron McCormick, Executive Director Fuel Cell Activities at GM; Jon Slangerup, CEO of Stuart Energy; and Jan Van Dokkum, President of UTC Power. On the government side U.S. Secretary of Energy Spencer Abraham and Governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger have been invited to speak.

Hydrogen Expo USA is held for the second time after its successful 2003 premiere in Washington, DC. Expo organizer Freesen & Partner GmbH, a consulting and event management company based in Germany, partners with the National Hydrogen Association, whose Annual U.S. Hydrogen Conference is already in its 15th year. www.hydrogenexpo.com
