AAA Texas: Weekend Gas Watch; New Pump Prices - New Records

HOUSTON--April 23, 2004--For the third straight week, all cities listed on AAA Texas' Weekend Gas Watch set new record highs.

The Texas average for a gallon of regular self-serve gasoline increased two cents to $1.690, with all cities averaging $1.66 or more. Motorists in San Antonio are paying the least at $1.664 a gallon -- less than a penny increase since last week. Dallas tops the list at $1.707 -- up about two pennies compared to last week.

"At this time there is nothing to indicate gasoline prices will begin moving lower," said Rose Rougeau, spokesperson for AAA Texas. "Crude oil prices continue to sell for more than $37 a barrel and demand worldwide remains high."

AAA Texas' Weekend Gas Watch monitors the average price of gasoline at popular destinations for automobile trips.
