GM Offering A $250 24-Hour Test Drive Challenge - Tell Them TACH Sent You!

DETROIT June 7, 2004; GM today announces The GM $250 Challenge to consumers participating in GM's 24-Hour Test Drive Program. Beginning June 8 and running through July 6, the $250 Challenge takes 24-Hour Test Drive to the next level -- consumers taking an overnight test drive, but still choosing to purchase a competitive product, will receive $250 from GM. This major extension of GM's successful Test Drive program, initiated in April 2003, is designed to encourage non-GM vehicle owners to experience, first-hand, the great design, performance and quality of GM products.

"Since the program's initiation a year ago, over 700,000 consumers have taken advantage of the 24 Hour Test Drive program," said John F. Smith, group vice-president GM North America Vehicle Sales, Service and Marketing. "We've sold over 240,000 vehicles as a result of this program. With the widest selection of vehicles to choose from, award-winning quality and the most segment-leading fuel economy leaders compared to any other manufacturer, this is a great time for more consumers to take an overnight test drive.

"And it's also a great time to buy as we continue to offer zero percent financing for 60 months or up to $5,000 in customer cash on a variety of 2004 models," said Smith.

Regarding fuel economy, GM offers the most fuel-efficient vehicles across more segments than any automotive manufacturer, based on Ward's Automotive Reports industry segmentation. For example, the Buick Rainier has the best fuel economy in the mid-luxury utility segment and the GMC Sierra and Chevrolet Silverado lead in the large pickup segment. Among cars, the Saab 9-3 in the lower-luxury and Saab 9-5 in the mid-luxury segment and the Pontiac Grand Am in the lower-mid segment have best in segment rankings.

The GM 24-Hour Test Drive program covers a wide variety of 2004 models across all GM brands, including Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Pontiac, Saturn, Saab and HUMMER. An added benefit of test-driving GM vehicles overnight is the no-cost opportunity to experience OnStar and XM Satellite Radio.

The GM $250 Challenge is available at GM dealerships participating in the 24-Hour Test Drive Program. For additional information about the 24-Hour Test Drive Program, consumers can visit GM's Web site at www.gm24hourtestdrive.com (click on "en espanol" for Spanish). The site allows consumers to learn about program guidelines, view eligible vehicles, find a list of participating dealerships and schedule a test drive. It also allows those who have participated in the test drive to provide feedback on their experience.
