JACKSON CENTER, Ohio, June 10 -- A very happy author and adventurer has become the proud owner of the first Dodge Sprinter Westfalia recreational vehicle. Joined by officials from Airstream, Westfalia and DaimlerChrysler, the vehicle manufacturer, keys and other bonus items were presented to Ronni Lundy at Airstream's Jackson Center headquarters.

"As the latest addition to the global Sprinter family of commercial vans, this unique vehicle is a very visible example of the benefits and rewards that come with cooperation and collaboration among our business alliance partners," said Rolf Bartke, executive vice president DaimlerChrysler AG and head of the Mercedes-Benz vans business unit. "Combining the best elements of both commercial and recreational vehicles, the Westfalia is a tremendous complement to the global Sprinter portfolio and RV products in general."

"We're extremely pleased to finally be able to put our first new Dodge Sprinter Westfalia in service and in our customer's possession," said Airstream president Dicky Reigel. "For camper-van users and outdoor enthusiasts, this is the beginning of a new era and the broad smile, confidence and satisfaction shown by Ms. Lundy in this new collaborative product confirms what we already knew -- we do indeed have a very competitive vehicle that RV users will appreciate and enjoy."

Lundy, a professional writer, chose the Westfalia as her vehicle of choice as she embarks on a cross country journey across the U.S. She will chronicle her travels and experiences in a new book. "This is a fabulous vehicle and so far driving it has been just a dream," said Lundy. "I couldn't even pull into the mall parking lot in Louisville without having someone come by and ask for a peek inside."

"Westfalia has enjoyed a strong relationship with the American market and customer for over 50 years and this new camper-van is just the latest in a proud legacy of providing quality products to the recreational vehicle marketplace," said Andreas Maas, managing director of Westfalia Van Conversion.

Built in Germany, the new Dodge Sprinter Westfalia officially debuted last December as the result of an exclusive distribution agreement between Dodge and Airstream. Setting the latest standard in the RV and compact camper-van segment, the vehicle is a smart alternative that offers the outdoor enthusiast increased benefits in terms of comfort, convenience, safety, functionality, and quality. The Dodge Sprinter Westfalia provides expanded living and sleeping capacity for four people. It has a full kitchen with refrigerator, stove top burners, plenty of storage, and a fold out dining table to seat five. The bathroom is complete with a shower, sink and toilet. Branded as Dodge and outfitted by Westfalia, it is sold by Airstream.
