Global Hydrogen Infrastructure Pioneers Stuart Energy to Help Sponsor Central Coast Clean Cities Coalition's Oct. 21 Event at Hearst Castle(R)

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 7 -- Stuart Energy, the pioneering global leader in the development, manufacture and integration of hydrogen infrastructure products, is the title sponsor for the San Luis Obispo, CA-based Central Coast Clean Cities Coalition's (C5) major October 21 forum focusing on clean vehicle technologies. C5's guiding mission is to expand the use of alternative fuels throughout the Central Coast. Its showcase event -- taking place at historic Hearst Castle(R) in San Simeon -- features both a daytime educational exhibition that's free and open to the public, and a private evening reception for C5 members and guests. Stuart's partnership with C5 for this important milestone is part of its ongoing commitment to proactive public outreach regarding renewable energy and sustainable living practices.

From 1 to 5 p.m., the base of Hearst Castle's "Enchanted Hill"(R) will be the site of the largest display of alternative fueled vehicles (AFVs) ever to be assembled on California's Central Coast. Visitors, including a number of invited school groups, will see, firsthand, more than 60 vehicles of various fuel-types, the growing array of clean vehicle technologies available, alongside colorful vintage antique cars, and get a chance to meet and hear some of the manufacturers, fuel providers, fleet operators, and other industry decision-makers.

The Stuart Energy component of the exposition will feature the Highlander FCHV, Toyota's prototype hydrogen fuel cell vehicle. It will be shown alongside the Stuart Energy Station (SES), a renewable, water electrolysis-based hydrogen station that transforms low cost solar electricity into stored hydrogen energy, and then re-deploys the hydrogen, on demand, to fuel vehicles. Part of Stuart's multi-purpose hydrogen infrastructure product portfolio -- the first of its kind -- the SES is a key element in the company's groundbreaking installation of hydrogen refueling stations throughout California.

That campaign and more will be detailed at San Simeon as Stuart officially rolls out plans for 2005's SHOW: The Renewable Hydrogen Roadshow. Stuart's visionary, traveling "Festival Within a Festival" drew major crowds and acclaim at some of California's largest fairs last summer, including the Monterey County Fair and Santa Rosa's Health & Harmony Festival, and plans for 2005 are far broader in scale. In addition to a preview of Stuart's renewable energy models for automotive, home and workplace usage, SHOW highlights in place for October 21 include Solar Integrated Technologies' unique solar roofing material that will help power the P.A. system for C5's afternoon program.

Stuart Energy President/CEO Jon Slangerup will be the featured speaker for the 5:30 to 9 p.m. evening festivities at C5's second annual "Meet The Members" reception, a roaring '20s-themed event taking place atop the hill at Hearst Castle(R) itself. Under Slangerup's watch, the Stuart Energy team has established the company as the undisputed brand and market leader for on-site hydrogen infrastructure solutions based on water electrolysis. Slangerup will discuss the emerging global H2 economy, Stuart's leadership in the delivery of such zero-emission technologies, and its quest for progress in areas including energy security, climate change, and air pollution.

The reception will also feature an informal cameo performance by singer-songwriter and environmental activist Tracy Lyons, who appeared with SHOW throughout 2004, and will continue raising awareness with Stuart's "Roadshow" in 2005. The Celtic-born, Northern California-based artist will perform "Save Me." Wrapped around themes of personal health and the environment, the powerful track will be featured on her second and forthcoming album. Lyons will be accompanied onstage by her longtime musical collaborator, Canadian Juno Award winner Greg Kavanagh. Committed to working for positive change in the area of sustainable living practices, Tracy will also play at San Luis Obispo venue Mother's Tavern on October 20, with proceeds slated to help support C5 public outreach efforts.
