Chevrolet Fueled Excitement At The Sixth Annual El Premio de la Gente® , Latin Music Fan Awards

-- Chevrolet Recorded its Second Year as the Event's Title and Exclusive Automotive Sponsor --

LOS ANGELES - When the doors opened October 21 for the sixth annual El Premio de la Gente®, Latin Music Fan Awards, Chevrolet captured the spotlight with head-turning cars and trucks onstage, on the red carpet, and in fans' hearts.

The 2004 Silverado was revealed as one of the shining stars of the evening, earning El Premio honors as the "2004 Vehicle of the Year." The Silverado was chosen by tabulating votes online and from mail-in ballots submitted by fans nationwide.

GM's best-selling vehicle, the 2004 Chevrolet Silverado full-size pickup continues to set new standards for performance and capability. From its bold exterior design to its innovative technologies such as Quadrasteer four-wheel steering, Silverado continues to raise the bar and prove why it has earned a reputation as the most dependable, long-lasting full-size pickup.

Silverado's unmatched powerplants, including proven Vortec, give it a decided edge among its full-size competitors and translates into plenty of power for pulling or payload. Silverado consistently offers a variety of configurations to fit customers' specific needs with 1/2-ton, 3/4-ton, and 1-ton offerings in 2WD or 4WD Regular, Extended and Crew Cabs. Silverado bed length includes 5-foot eight-inch, 61/2-foot or 8-foot, and a variety of impressive Vortec engines also abound.

The Z71, Silverado Hybrid and Silverado SS provide additional unique options whether off-roading, watching fuel economy, or Chevrolet's Super Sport legacy appeal.

The Silverado joined the 2005 SSR, 2005 Corvette, 2005 Equinox, 2004 Colorado and 2004 Malibu Maxx on the El Premio ballot to vie for "Vehicle of the Year" honors. The vehicles catalog six of 10 new products Chevrolet is launching in a 20-month period - the biggest wave of innovative new cars and trucks in Chevy history.

For the second consecutive year, Chevrolet was the title and exclusive automotive sponsor of the El Premio de la Gente awards honoring Latin recording artists as voted on "by the people." In celebration, Chevrolet brought some of its hottest vehicles to the awards show to help "rev up" the festivities and broadcast taping for airing October 30 on Telemundo Television Network.

The onstage presentation of the El Premio de la Gente awards was kicked into high gear with a little help from a red Chevy Corvette coupe. The Corvette, with its new sixth-generation styling, made a show-stopping entrance when El Premio co-host Candela Ferro drove the sexy sports car onstage to open the awards.

And when some of today's brightest music stars walked the red carpet at the El Premio de la Gente awards Chevrolet turned heads with the help of a yellow SSR and a red Corvette convertible.

The awards show night activities followed a busy two-month campaign from Chevrolet that included hosting the first-ever "El Premio On The Road" tour, promoting voting and kick-starting an advertising campaign featuring newly created, music-infused "Subete" spots.
