Toyota Offers Free Download of 'Beautiful World' From New TV Commercial

TORRANCE, Calif., Nov. 4, 2004 -- In response to the many requests Toyota has received for information about the music in its new brand TV commercial, "Wheel," the song is now available for free download on toyota.com for a limited time. "Beautiful World" is performed by the musical duo Fisher and was commissioned specifically for the television commercial.

"When we make a commercial, we always wonder if customers will be as enthusiastic about it as we are," said Deborah Wahl Meyer, Toyota corporate marketing communications manager. "In this case, people have gone out of their way to contact us to discover the artist for the music. It's a very emotional piece and it captures our new 'Moving Forward' brand message perfectly -- it's optimistic, inspiring and people relate to it in a positive way."

Toyota's approach to securing the music for the ad was unique. Instead of using existing music, Toyota's advertising agency, Saatchi & Saatchi, partnered with the commercial music company, HUM. HUM challenged selected artists to compose music based on a document that described the philosophy of the new "Moving Forward" brand direction.

"The result of challenging the musicians was a series of amazing interpretations," said Harvey Marco, Saatchi & Saatchi's executive creative director. "It was very difficult to make the final decision, but based on the customer response, I think we chose wisely. One customer contacted Toyota to get the music to use at her sister's wedding. That's what 'Moving Forward' is all about."

Fisher, a husband-wife team based in Los Angeles, Calif., will be releasing a full-length version of "Beautiful World" on their next CD due in March 2005. Kathy Fisher's voice has been featured in numerous television commercials and on the 1999 ballad "I Will Love You."
