DaimlerChrysler Fund Becomes Presenting Sponsor of WWII Veterans' Oral History Project

* 'Project Delaware - WWII: Voices of War' will document veterans' stories * $50,000 donation announced on Veteran's Day * DaimlerChrysler Corporation Fund continues support of communities

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Nov. 11 -- The DaimlerChrysler Corporation Fund today announced a donation of $50,000 to "Project Delaware - World War II: Voices of War," a video production that will document the personal stories of Delaware's World War II veterans. The donation was accepted by Delaware Lt. Governor John C. Carney Jr. and Frank Panunto Jr., Vice Chairman of "Project Delaware" at a Veteran's Day commemoration in Newark, Del. The documentary is scheduled to be released on Memorial Day 2005.

"Project Delaware will capture the oral history of some of the country's greatest contributors from an important period in U.S. history. We are proud to be a key supporter of it," said Chuck Kowalski, Chrysler Group Plant Manager - Newark Assembly Plant. "The DaimlerChrysler Fund works to make a positive, lasting difference in the communities in which the company conducts business, and we believe this contribution does that."

"Without the funding of private companies like DaimlerChrysler, we would not be able to complete this project, and the stories of Delaware's World War II veterans would be lost to future generations," said Lt. Governor Carney. "Having DaimlerChrysler join us as presenting sponsor re-affirms that our community is committed to seeing this project through to completion."

Preliminary funds for "Project Delaware" were provided by the state.

Chrysler Group's Newark (Delaware) Assembly Plant has about 2,200 employees and produces the Dodge Durango. The company's Newark Parts Distribution Center employs about 150 people. Chrysler Group employs approximately 6,755 veterans at its U.S. manufacturing operations, including 375 workers at the two Newark facilities.

The DaimlerChrysler Fund was a significant contributor to the new National WWII Veteran's Memorial in Washington, D.C.

The Fund, now in its 51st year, is the primary source of charitable grants made by DaimlerChrysler Corporation. The Fund annually supports hundreds of charitable organizations with an emphasis on community growth, arts and education in the United States and throughout the world.
