Mattel Takes Playtime on the Road with CAR-GO Fun; Self-contained Games and Playsets Pack Big Fun in Small Places

EL SEGUNDO, Calif.--Nov. 1, 20046, 2004--Just in time for holiday travel, Mattel, Inc. today announced availability of CAR-GO Fun(TM), the newest on-the-go games and playsets for ages three and up.

CAR-GO Fun(TM) UNO(R), Matchbox(R) and Polly Pocket(R), complete with their own play pieces such as cards, cars or dolls offer portable pop-open fun. Each game or playset is self-contained and is sized to be compatible with most standard car, truck or SUV cup holders. The portability, of course, is not limited to these vehicles; CAR-GO Fun(TM) makes packing for any destination just as easy.

"Any parent knows that keeping children amused while traveling can be a full-time focus," says Phil Jackson, vice president, marketing, Mattel Brands. "But, CAR-GO Fun(TM) lives up to its name and makes packing playsets a snap and keeps access at kids' fingertips."

Each game or playset resembles a big-drink cup. Like a magician's box, the "cup" unfolds in a variety of configurations appropriate for maximum play with that particular game or playset. For example, the Matchbox(R) Hero City Fire Station CAR-GO Fun(TM) opens up to show a fire station with lots of moving parts, complete with an exclusive Matchbox(R) truck.

CAR-GO Fun(TM) UNO(R), Matchbox(R), and Polly Pocket(R) games and playsets are available immediately at retail outlets including convenience stores such as Chevron, 7-Eleven and QuikTrip as well as Sears, Shopko, Longs and American Sales for $5.99. CAR-GO Fun(TM) Hot Wheels(R) and Barbie(R) Fairytopia(TM) playset versions of will be released in Spring 2005 with more branded games and playsets available in Fall 2005.
