GM's Diversity Communications Director to Retire

DETROIT November 29, 2004; Andrea Clark, general director of diversity and growth markets communications, will retire on Feb. 1, 2005, after a 30-year career with General Motors to pursue interests in the field of diversity.

Until her retirement, Clark will serve as a consultant to GM to provide strategic direction on furthering GM's established reputation in the diversity arena.

"Andrea has been instrumental in establishing and advancing the diversity communications efforts within General Motors," said Tom Kowaleski, vice president of GM Communications. "Most recently, she played a lead role in the company's participation at the UNITY Conference in Washington, D.C., highlighting GM's efforts to 8,200 journalists of color."

Clark began her GM career in 1974 at Cadillac and since then she has held a variety of positions in internal, external, product and strategic communications at the former Detroit Diesel Allison Division, GM North America, and in corporate communications. Her efforts have been recognized by the Public Relations Society of America and International Association of Business Communicators and in numerous professional publications.

Clark received a bachelor's degree in communications from the University of Detroit in 1972. She is also a 1987 graduate of Indiana University School of Business Executive Development Program.
