Auto Library Friends Pick Chrysler 300 as 2004's 'Collectible Car of the Future'

DETROIT, Dec. 15, 2004 -- From all of America's new cars and trucks in 2004, the Chrysler 300 will become the most desired by future car collectors, according to the Friends of the National Automotive History Collection.

Members of the organization, which supports the world-famous automotive collection at the Detroit Public Library, vote annually to predict the "Collectible Vehicle of the Future" from the year's new American-built vehicles. The Chrysler 300 was selected from 13 all-new cars and trucks launched in 2004.

The award is being presented to Chrysler Group executives at the annual Friends of the NAHC holiday reception on December 15 at the NAHC's quarters in the Skillman Branch Library at 121 Gratiot avenue in downtown Detroit.

"The all-new Chrysler 300 redefines the classic American car with its exceptional comfort and graciousness, beautiful styling, and incredible performance," noted Paul Scupholm, chairman of the NAHC Board of Trustees. "With its unique styling, exceptional comfort, and 'Hemi' engine, it will be very desirable to future car collectors."

Craig Love, Chrysler Group Vice President - Rear-Wheel Drive Platform, said "We are delighted with this recognition by the Friends of the NAHC, who certainly know what makes a collectible car."

"With an entirely new shape based on Chrysler Group's rear-wheel drive architecture, this striking sedan continues Chrysler's proud 'letter series' tradition in a thoroughly modern way," Love noted.

The NAHC is the world's largest public archive of automotive lore and a treasure for automotive historians, journalists and collectors. Its collection of books, manuals, photos, company histories, and historic documents is open to the public.

The Friends of the Detroit Public Library supports the collection through the NAHC Board of Trustees, which raises funds and provides volunteer assistance.
