Comcast Launches Public Safety Campaign Throughout Metro Richmond to Promote Driver Safety Among Young People

Comcast Will Donate $500,000 Worth of Airtime Throughout Metro Richmond for Public Safety Messages Featuring the Families and Friends of Accident Victims

RICHMOND, Va., Feb. 1 -- Comcast today announced a partnership with the families and friends of accident victims titled "Drive, Think, Live," beginning on Tuesday, February 1, 2005. "Drive, Think, Live" will feature $500,000 worth of airtime donated by Comcast for public service messages, and the spots will air on multiple channels throughout Metro Richmond.

The Comcast-produced "Drive, Think, Live" public safety program is a series of seven original 30-second public safety messages featuring the family members and friends of young people who have been killed in traffic accidents. Comcast will donate the airtime to publicize these powerful messages during the next six months. The spots will air on a wide variety of channels to reach many different audiences and viewers throughout the Richmond Metropolitan Area.

This new campaign is designed to encourage dialogue among teenagers about the dangers that exist on the roads. The ultimate goal of the program will be to assist in the continued efforts to get teenagers to take fewer risks when operating a vehicle. This will hopefully lead to a reduction in the number of teen traffic accidents in the next year.

"Comcast believes that too many young people are seriously injured or killed each year in traffic accidents," said Kirby Brooks, Vice President & General Manager for Comcast's Richmond Metropolitan Area. "'Drive, Think, Live' will raise awareness about the problem of teenage driving accidents and encourage young people to stop and think before they take an unnecessary risk on the road. These powerful messages from the family and friends of accident victims will connect to viewers on a personal level," added Brooks.
