Acura Sets Record March Sales

TSX Posts Another Record Setting Month

TORRANCE, Calif., April 1 -- Marking its 17th consecutive record-breaking month, Acura posted record March sales of 18,599 vehicles, surpassing the previous mark of 17,285 set in 2004 by 3.6 percent, the division announced today. Year-to-date, Acura sales rose to 48,414, up 7.7 percent compared to 2004, based on the daily selling rate.

TSX, TL and RL sedans helped set a new monthly record of 13,586 for total cars, breaking the previous record of 12,703 set in 1991. The TSX sports sedan set a new March sales record and posted its fourth consecutive record month of sales, up 35.6 percent compared to 2004. TSX sales of 3,107 units shattered the previous record of 2,206 vehicles set in 2004. The TL performance luxury sedan was Acura's top-selling model with March sales of 7,217 driving the year-to-date total to 17,904. Additionally, strong demand for the all-new RL luxury performance sedan continued with sales of 1,376 up 193.8 percent compared to 2004. Year-to-date RL sales of 4,159 outpaced last year's total of 1,428 by 195.1 percent.

"Our strong sedan lineup continues to win over customers despite the tough competition," said Dick Colliver, executive vice president, sales. "The TL, RL and TSX are three of the hottest luxury cars in the country and continue to push Acura to record sales."

All percentages are based on 27 selling days for this month versus 26 days for last March and 75 days year-to-date versus 76 for 2004.
