-- New Progressive SUV to Broaden Brand Appeal and Elevate Sales --

LAFAYETTE, Ind., April 4 -- In a celebration ceremony, Subaru of Indiana Automotive, Inc. (SIA) and Subaru of America, Inc. (SOA) announced the production of the first units of the all-new 2006 Subaru B9 Tribeca. Subaru executives, distinguished guests and SIA associates will be on hand to cheer on the first Subaru B9 Tribeca to drive off the assembly line at the Subaru plant in Lafayette, Ind., at 2 p.m. today.

"This is a very exciting day for the Subaru brand, and for all SIA associates," said Hiroyuki Oikawa, President and CEO, Subaru of Indiana Automotive, Inc. "The Subaru B9 Tribeca is the latest innovation from Subaru that strengthens an already award-winning product lineup. Everyone at SIA is proud to be building this progressive SUV, which contains the high quality and superior safety that Subaru products are well-known for, along with several great new features."

SIA plans to produce more than 26,000 units of the Subaru B9 Tribeca models this year. The Subaru B9 Tribeca debuted in January at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit and is set to arrive in Subaru dealerships beginning in late May. MSRP for the vehicles begins at $30,695 and tops out at $37,695 for the top-of-the-line seven-passenger, leather, with rear seat DVD entertainment and navigation systems.

Subaru, and its dealer organization, established a second consecutive all- time sales record in 2004 with total sales of 187,402 units. This sales success was led by the introduction of the re-designed 2005 Subaru Legacy and Outback models, also built at SIA, that have posted an impressive sales increase of 23 percent since their introduction last June.

All Subaru vehicles, including the Subaru B9 Tribeca, are built to leverage Subaru core technologies including the horizontally opposed boxer engine and Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive.
