DaimlerChrysler's Kokomo Transmission Plant Receives 'Patriot Award'

National Guard Employee Nominates the Company

KOKOMO, Ind., Aug. 12 -- DaimlerChrysler's Kokomo (Ind.) Transmission Plant (KTP) will be recognized today as a "Patriot Award" recipient by Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels. The award recognizes companies that implement policies and practices that support their employees' participation in the National Guard and Reserve. James Reed, Plant Manager of KTP, will accept the award on behalf of the Company. The National Committee of Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve sponsors the Awards program. All employer awards stem from nominations by Reserve members. KTP was nominated by Col. Dave Harris, a member of the National Guard who also is employed as a Manufacturing Quality Assurance Coordinator at KTP.

"DaimlerChrysler is committed to supporting our employees while they work in our facilities and when they work to keep America safe," said Fred Goedtel, Vice President of Transmission/Casting/Machining for DaimlerChrysler. "We realize that in order to continue to build great cars, we have to provide an environment that offers employee support -- in all aspects of their lives. We thank each member of the National Guard and Reserve for serving our country."

The DaimlerChrysler plant joins a select group of companies who have also been bestowed with the "Patriot Award," including Firestone Tire & Rubber, SBC Indiana and O'Neal Steel.

DaimlerChrysler has been a member of the Indiana community for more than 45 years and continues its ongoing commitment to bringing new business to the existing facilities.
