Robby Gordon Helmet Charity: Auction Off to Unbelievable Start

Huntersville, N.C. --
After the first seven hours of the eBay auction featuring the helmet
NASCAR driver Robby Gordon slammed into the side of competitor Michael
Waltrip's car Sunday at New Hampshire International Speedway, the
bidding has topped the $100,000 mark.

"The generosity of people always amazes me," Gordon said. “I'm
completely blown away that we have raised this much money this quickly
for the Harrah's Katrina Relief Fund”.

"What we do in a race car is nothing more than entertainment and we all
need to keep that in perspective. What matters is being in a position
to help others. I'm over what happened Sunday and we're all having a
lot of fun with the auction. It's a great feeling to be able to
help."

Making some good from a tough situation, Robby Gordon on Tuesday pledged
to further assist the Harrah’s Employee Relief Fund, which was
established following Hurricane Katrina’s devastation of Mississippi,
Alabama and Louisiana, by auctioning off his race helmet used in
Sunday’s event at New Hampshire International Speedway.

Following Hurricane Katrina, Gordon made an initial contribution of
$20,000 to the Fund, and will raise additional monies through a $7 a lap
pledge for the remainder of the season, and will also contribute 10
percent from the sale of Harrah’s racing merchandise and collectibles at
the team’s web site – robbygordon.com – and at its track-side souvenir
trailer.

The helmet will be auctioned off on eBay with bids now being accepted.
The auction will last for one week, and the helmet going to the highest
bidder on Tuesday, Sept. 27 at 1 p.m. (EDT).
