AAA's Monthly Fuel Report Shows Continued Gas Price Decline

AURORA, Ill., Nov. 23, 2005 -- Both statewide averages for the price of gasoline in Illinois and Northern Indiana have fallen sharply during the past month primarily due to the continuing decline of crude oil prices. AAA Chicago's most recent Fuel Gauge Report estimates that in Illinois regular unleaded gasoline has decreased 45 cents over the past month, forecasting an average cost of $2.30 per gallon for the month of November and up 33 cents per gallon from last year.

"Just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday, consumers have some relief at the pump," says Kris Lathan, AAA Chicago's director of public affairs."

In northern Indiana, gas prices average $2.18, which is down 51 cents from October and up 31 cents from November 2004.

   -- In Cook County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages
      $2.46, which is down 37 cents compared to last month and 36 cents
      higher than last year's price-per-gallon.
   -- In DuPage County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages
      $2.37 per gallon, which is a 39-cent decrease from October and 34
      cents higher than last year.
   -- In Kane County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages
      $2.33 per gallon, which is down 42 cents compared to last month and 35
      cents higher than November 2004's price.
   -- In Lake County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages
      $2.30 per gallon, which is down 40 cents in the last month and up by
      32 cents compared to this time last year.
   -- In McHenry County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages
      $2.32 per gallon, which down 39 cents from October's average and 32
      cents higher than October 2004's price.
   -- In Will County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages
      $2.32 per gallon, which is 45 cents lower compared to last month and
      39 cents higher compared to last year.
   -- In Allen County, Ind., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages
      $2.21 per gallon, which is a decrease of 50 cents from last month and
      35 cents higher than November 2004's price.
   -- In Lake County, Ind., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages
      $2.20 per gallon, a 41-cent decrease from October's average and a 31-
      cent increase from a year ago.
   -- In St. Joseph County, Ind., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline
      averages $2.18 per gallon, which is down 54 cents compared to last
      month and an increase of 31 cents from November 2004.
