Hyperion Named Blue Sky Merit Winner for its Drive Clean to Drive Change Program

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--Dec. 19, 2005--Hyperion , the global leader in Business Performance Management software, announced today that it has received a Blue Sky Merit award from CALSTART, North America's leading advanced transportation technologies consortium. The Blue Sky awards recognize the groundbreaking work of large and small companies for their outstanding marketplace contributions to clean air, energy efficiency and the transportation industry overall.

Hyperion won the award for its first-of-its-kind initiative to clear the air by helping its employees purchase fuel-efficient cars for their personal use. Under its Drive Clean to Drive Change initiative, Hyperion is reimbursing employees $5,000 for vehicles that achieve 45 miles per gallon of gasoline.

The 45-mpg standard is achievable by fuel-efficient vehicles using technologies such as hybrid, diesel and electric, and results in dramatically less carbon dioxide emissions when compared to the vast majority of gasoline-powered vehicles.

"The awards this year reflect the expanding growth and momentum in an industry where solutions are timelier than ever," said CALSTART president and CEO John Boesel. "There is increasing urgency for greater transportation energy efficiency and alternatives to our dependence on petroleum. Our Blue Sky winners' actions stand out as signals of the meaningful solutions we can enact to address our challenges."

"Helping the environment in this way is not only a good thing to do; it is the right thing to do," said Godfrey Sullivan, Hyperion president and CEO. "The Drive Clean to Drive Change program reflects the Hyperion philosophy that companies and individuals have an extraordinary ability to make a difference. To demonstrate our commitment to this philosophy, we're helping employees get into clean, fuel efficient cars."

The Drive Clean to Drive Change initiative, launched in November 2004, has been enthusiastically embraced by employees in the U.S. and in Europe and has already resulted in the saving of thousands of gallons of fuel. The company is also making information about the program available to other companies interesting in launching similar initiatives through the Companies for Clean Air Consortium. Information about the Consortium is available at www.hyperion.com/driveclean.
