Hometown Hero's Donation Request Brightens Holiday Season for
Local Charity and Area Homeless
-- Sacramento Loaves and Fishes receives all-new 2006 Jeep(R) Commander
in honor of local hero, California Highway Patrol Officer J.C. Dodd
-- Officer Dodd recognized for selfless contributions to public safety
and the community
-- DaimlerChrysler Corporation Fund presents Loaves and Fishes with
additional $10,000 cash donation
What: Sacramento Loaves and Fishes will receive an all-new 2006 Jeep
Commander in honor of its newest hero, Officer J.C. Dodd, a
California Highway Patrol search and rescue pilot. Dodd was
recently named a Jeep Hero from among more than 2,500 entries
nationwide in a program honoring military, police, fire and
emergency medical services personnel who deliver exemplary, unique
and heroic service to improve the quality of life in cities and
towns across America.
Officer Dodd asked Chrysler Group to donate his prize, an all-new
2006 Jeep Commander, to Loaves and Fishes.
The DaimlerChrysler Corporation Fund will make an additional
$10,000 cash donation to help meet the needs of Sacramento's
homeless community this holiday season.
Who: Present at the ceremony will be:
-- Officer J.C. Dodd, California Highway Patrol search and rescue
pilot and Jeep Heroes Grand Prize Winner
-- Senator Dave Cox will present Officer Dodd with a resolution in
his honor and a letter from the Governor
-- Tim Brown, director, Sacramento Loaves and Fishes
-- Greg Goebel, Jeep
-- Rich Andrus will share rescue story and how his life was
affected by Officer Dodd
When: Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2005
10 a.m.
Where: Sacramento Loaves & Fishes
1321 North C Street, Sacramento
Corner of North C Street and Ahern Street
916-446-0874
Why: Earlier this year, Dodd was nominated for the Jeep Hero award by
his wife Jacqueline. He was selected as one of four Grand Prize
Winners in a program designed to recognize the important service
these individuals perform every day and to reward them -- the best
people to represent America's best -- with a Jeep vehicle that will
give them the same sense of security and reliability they give
Americans. Since CHP and state laws prohibit Officer Dodd from
accepting the vehicle, he has asked Chrysler Group to donate the
Jeep Commander to Sacramento Loaves and Fishes, an organization
that feeds, transports and provides shelter for homeless people.
