Car For Kids Program Conducting 24-Hour Telephone Marathon

DALLAS--Dec. 2, 20056, 2005--Texans Can! announced today the beginning of a 24-hour telephone marathon through which individuals can donate their vehicles to help support the organization and receive a 2005 tax write off. The marathon, where phone banks will be operated 24 hours a day, will run through midnight December 31. Donated cars, trucks, boats and RVs will be sold at local auctions to help generate much-needed funds to support Texans Can! The telephone marathon number is 866-835-5437.

"With the busy holiday season underway, we wanted to make it easy for folks to donate their vehicles to the worthy cause of providing at-risk youth a second chance for an education," said Grant East, founder and president emeritus of Texans Can!. "We have found that many caring citizens will donate their vehicles at year's end if the process is convenient. During this time last year, more than 5,000 vehicles were donated."

In addition to calling in, vehicle donations can be made online. Either way, Texans Can! will pick up the vehicle at no cost. However, the donation must be made by midnight December 31 in order for the donor to receive a 2005 tax write off. In addition the tax benefit, donors will receive a free leather jacket as a show of appreciation for supporting Texans Can! Again, the number to call is 866-835-5437.
