Toyota to Produce Camrys in Indiana

Washington DC March 10, 2006; The AIADA newsletter reported that Toyota executives are expected to announce at a press conference on Monday that the new Camry sedan will be manufactured at the Subaru plant in Lafayette, IN, reports The Associated Press.

Toyota brought a stake in Subaru owner Fuji Heavy Industries last year and has since been considering Subaru's Lafayette plant for additional production of the Camry in America. The decision is expected to employ up to 1,000 workers and assemble 100,000 Camrys annually, according to the Indianapolis Star. The bulk of North American production of the Camry is currently at Toyota's Georgetown, KY plant.
