450HP Small Block Chevy V8 to Be Sold to Benefit Darrell Gwynn Foundation

PALM BEACH, Fla.--March 29, 2006--The Barrett-Jackson Auction Company will auction a 450 horsepower small block Chevy 383 stroker V8 donated for charity by the Engine Factory during the fourth annual Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach Collector Car Event. The engine will be sold at No Reserve at approximately 2:45 p.m. EST on Saturday April 1, 2006, Lot # 5000.1. Proceeds from the engine sale will be donated to the Darrell Gwynn Foundation. The fourth annual automotive lifestyle event at the South Florida Expo Center will include three days of No Reserve auction excitement from Thursday, March 30 through Saturday, April 1; SPEED will broadcast the event again this year.

"The small block Chevy V8 is a legendary engine that has powered everything from European exotics to radical hot rods," noted Craig Jackson, president of Barrett-Jackson Auction Company. "Engine Factory is renowned worldwide for building some of the finest Chevy V8s available, and this 450 beast is no exception. We're pleased they will participate in our Palm Beach auction for the second straight year and generously donate all proceeds from this sale to the Darrell Gwynn Foundation. Because of their generosity, we're waiving the seller's commission and entry fee on this engine."

The 383 Chevy Stroker contains parts from some of the most respected companies across the nation. Specialized parts includes an Eagle crankshaft, Federal-Mogul pistons, Edelbrock roller camshaft cylinder heads and 800 cfm carburetor, an Air Gap Polished intake manifold, MSD distributor, Zoops serpentine belt system with alternator, power steering pump and air conditioning compressor.

"This engine is tuned for maximum performance," said Engine Factory owner Bruce Nelson. "Peak power is upwards of 450, with legendary Chevy reliability to keep the horses flowing for years. The Barrett-Jackson bidders appreciate the importance of a good motor; with the small block crossing the block for charity, we are expecting the enthusiasm levels to be extremely high."

The Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach automotive lifestyle event will include a gala, vendor displays and three days of No Reserve auction excitement from Thursday, March 30 through Saturday, April 1, 2006, at the South Florida Expo Center. This year's event will include over 600 quality collector cars. Television coverage will be provided by SPEED.
