Michigan's Best Science Fair Projects to Be Judged Saturday at Kettering University

FLINT, Mich.--April 7, 2006--Thousands of dollars in scholarships will be awarded to Michigan's top high school students on Saturday, April 8, when Kettering University hosts the 2006 Michigan Science & Engineering Fair in Flint.

Senior division winners of regional science fairs from around the state, including 10 winners from the recent Flint Area Science Fair, will compete for prizes. The one-day event is in Kettering's Campus Center.

Students participating by county are:
Genesee County: 6
Lapeer County: 2
Lenawee County: 3
Oakland County: 12
Saginaw County: 10
Washtenaw County: 9
Wayne County: 9

Kettering will award up to $80,000 (four $20,000 scholarships) during the awards ceremony, which is 4-5 p.m. Saturday. It's the second year in a row that Kettering will host the state contest, which attracts the top winners from regional competitions around Michigan.

Two state fair winners will receive fully sponsored trips to the 2006 INTEL International Science and Engineering Fair, May 7-13, in Indianapolis.
