Auto Central - April 17, 2006: Bob Gordon, president and co-founder of The Auto Channel, has accepted an invitation to speak at the 2006 Clean Cities Congress and Expo. The event will be held May 7-10 at the Phoenix Convention Center in Phoenix, Arizona.

The Clean Cities Congress and Expo is the premier international event focusing on alternative fuels and advanced vehicle technology. One hundred speakers with expertise in this arena will participate. Last year's event in Palm Springs attracted more than 1,300 attendees from 30 nations and 96 exhibitors. Event organizers expect comparable numbers in Phoenix.

Arizona Senator John McCain is scheduled to deliver the key note speech that kicks off the Congress. “There are very few issues facing the federal government as serious as dependence on imported oil,” said Will Kleindienst, chair of the Clean Cities Congress and Expo 2006. “John McCain’s position in the Senate makes him ideally situated to provide insight into what the federal government can do to address energy independence for the United States.”

Bob Gordon will be part of the Monday morning panel discussing "News You Can Use: Journalists Provide an Alternative Fuels Reality Check."

Activities at the 2006 Congress include:
• Sessions focusing on the business case for biodiesel, ethanol, compressed natural gas, liquefied natural gas, hybrids, and propane.
• Experts addressing the financial incentives in the 2005 energy bill for purchasing vehicles and fuel, and infrastructure development.
• An in-depth fleet tutorial for private and public fleet professionals requiring an introduction to the market.
• More than 100 exhibitors providing a one-stop shopping marketplace for alternative fuels and vehicles.
• A Ride-n-Drive featuring the latest vehicles, as well as stationery displays of new technologies such as idle reduction and hybrid systems.

Alternative Fuel Vehicle Solutions, American Honda, and General Motors are Platinum sponsors of the Clean Cities Congress. Additional sponsors include Advanced Fleet, ANGI, City of Phoenix, Clean Energy, Cummins Westport, Daimler Chrysler, Ford, Greenfield Compression, ICF Consulting, John Deere, National Biodiesel Board, National Ethanol Vehicle Council, Pinnacle CNG Company, Propane Exceptional Energy, and Toyota.

Clean Cities Congress and Expo 2006 is produced by Alternative Fuel Vehicle Institute (AFVI), a Nevada-based not-for-profit organization established to promote the transition to alternative fuel vehicles.
