Team Hummer Dominates At Terrible's Town 250

H2 and H3 Take First-in-Class; H1 Alpha Finishes in Debut Race

DETROIT – In a sport where simply finishing the race is a victory, Team HUMMER once again proved dominant with the Team HUMMER H2 and H3 taking first-in-class finishes at the “Best in the Desert” (BitD) Racing Association’s Terrible’s Town 250 this past weekend in Pahrump, Nev.

The Team HUMMER race trucks are driven by the legendary off-road racing Hall family. Team founder and 18-time Baja 1000 winner Rod Hall pilots the #3111 H3; Josh Hall, Terrible’s Town 250 defending class champion and 2005 “Best in the Desert" Racing Association Stock SUV class champion drives the # 4101 H2; and the #8102 H1 Alpha is driven by six-time Baja 1000 winner, Chad Hall.

“This year’s course was extremely challenging,” said Josh Hall. “The fact that we were able to get all three vehicles across the finish line, including two first-in-class finishes is a real testament to the strength of the HUMMERs and the entire Team HUMMER crew.”

The Terrible’s Town 250 was also the debut race of the new Team HUMMER H1 Alpha, which experienced the unpredictable challenges that tend to plague vehicles in their inaugural desert race. In spite of the Nevada desert’s best attempts to end their day, the H1 Alpha team and Chad were able to pilot the H1 to a finish.

Team HUMMER competes in the stock class, which features production-based vehicles with stock frames, stock suspension designs and production-based engines. Much of the team’s success can be attributed to a cooperative relationship between Team HUMMER and the GM development engineering group based at GM’s Desert Proving Ground in Arizona. The close-to-stock configuration of the race vehicles provides engineers a valuable method of observing the H2 and H3 in extreme driving situations. In addition to building the race vehicle, the development engineers provide technical consultation, parts support and even crew member volunteers for all races. Evaluations of the vehicles’ performance provide valuable feedback that can be used in the continual refinement of current products and the development of future HUMMERs.

For more than a decade, The Hall Family and Team HUMMER have piloted HUMMER's into the top spots of some of the off-road racing circuit's most grueling and technical courses, including 10 victories at the SCORE Baja 1000 since 1993. To find out more about HUMMER vehicles visit www.hummer.com.
