AAA Texas: Weekend Gas Watch; Two Weeks of Price Drops
HOUSTON--May 12, 2006--Texas motorists have seen price declines at the gas pumps for the second straight week, according to AAA Texas' Weekend Gas Watch.In Texas, the current average is $2.823 a gallon - that is down four cents within the past week. The Galveston-Texas City area edged past Dallas as the city with the highest priced gasoline at $2.904 a gallon - down slightly. The average price for gasoline fell by nine cents a gallon in Corpus Christi to $2.657.
"Prices have softened these past few weeks due to crude prices staying at or near $70 a barrel, and sufficient supplies of the ethanol additive entering the market," said Rose Rougeau, spokesperson for AAA Texas. "However, unless concerns about supplies are eased, motorists may not see large price drops."
The national average for regular self-serve gasoline is $2.885 a gallon - down three cents in a week.
