NEW YORK, July 3 -- DaimlerChrysler AG , the third largest U.S. auto maker, today reported total group sales of 206,748 passenger vehicles in the U.S. for June 2006, a 13 percent decrease compared to June 2005. All sales figures in this release are on an unadjusted basis unless otherwise noted.

Chrysler Group, which consists of the Chrysler, Jeep(R) and Dodge brands, posted sales of 185,946 vehicles in the U.S., a decrease of 15 percent. On the heels of the successful launch of the Dodge Caliber, Chrysler Group continues its product offensive with the launch of the Jeep Compass. The Jeep Compass expands the product portfolio of the Jeep brand with an all-new, modern-styled compact Jeep that delivers fun, freedom, utility, excellent fuel efficiency and Jeep 4x4 capability at a terrific value. The Jeep Compass is just beginning its arrival at Jeep dealers nationwide.

Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA) posted sales of 20,802 units, up 14 percent compared to the same month last year and posting its best first half of the year on record. As a group, sales for Mercedes-Benz light trucks -- ML-Class, G-Class, GL-Class and R-Class -- achieved continued momentum with a 97.9 percent increase in sales over year-to-date 2005.

Detailed vehicle sales information for MBUSA and Chrysler Group will be announced later today in separate press releases issued by the groups. June 2006 and June 2005 both had 26 selling days.
