Minivan History

Chrysler Corporation created the first new vehicular genre in years when it invented the minivan in the mid-1980s. Smaller and easier to drive and park than a regular van, and much more economical, the minivan proved to be the death of the full-size station wagon.

Minivans have grown considerably over the years, and few are truly "mini'' anymore. They offer excellent space utilization, but have lost ground in popularity to SUVs.

The Chrysler and Dodge minivan entries are still at the top of the popularity charts despite efforts by Ford, GM, Toyota, Honda, and even Kia to overcome their sales lead. With over 55 minivan models to choose from it is important for potential buyers to “know before they try and buy”
