ZAP Hires Former Segway and JVC Sales Executives

SANTA ROSA, Calif.--ZAP [NYSE Arca:ZP] today announced the hiring of senior sales executives Guy Alderton and Steve Tucker to lead ZAPs Power Systems and Portable Energy business units.

ZAP's revenues for the first six months of 2006 have surpassed all of 2005 with demand for ZAP's full-line of advanced transportation and technologies. ZAP is recruiting Alderton and Tucker to help lead sales efforts to expand sales for ZAP Portable Energy and ZAP Power Systems, formerly ZAP Consumer Products.

ZAP is thrilled to welcome such strong industry talent to its team, said ZAP CEO Steve Schneider. Guy Alderton and Steve Tucker exemplify ZAPs ability to attract leading talent as well as ZAP's growing strategic importance in the new transportation and personal electronics markets. ZAP is a company to watch!

Guy Alderton, a former North American Vice President of Sales for Segway, signed with ZAPs Power Systems division in September, which includes sales for the ZAPPY3 personal transporters, off-road vehicles, seascooters and more. Alderton brings a track record of building sales teams within the emerging personal transportation market. More recently, Alderton was Director of Business Development for NetBotz, a manufacturer of an IP based physical security monitoring device. Alderton has also held positions at Nextel Communications, rising to Director of Commercial Sales with responsibility for Nextel's direct and indirect channel partnership. Alderton brings to ZAP experience to compliment its business plan in the consumer market for personal transportation and recreational vehicles.

Steve Tucker recently joined ZAP to further the development of its Portable Energy business unit. Tucker formerly headed up Merchandising and Operations of Frys Electronics Home Audio, Portable Audio and Car Audio Departments. During his tenure Frys Electronics grew from being three stores to the current 18-unit chain of electronics superstores. Prior to Frys, Tucker spearheaded US sales for JVC Video and Color TV and helped to take JVC beyond the $1 Billion sales benchmark. Tuckers experience in the consumer electronics industry will assist in the development and marketing for ZAP's advanced battery technologies.
