Subaru Northwest Region Leads the Nation in Subaru Sales Growth

- Strong September sales boost Region's total year-to-date sales up 10% -

PORTLAND, Ore., Oct. 12 -- Subaru of America, Inc. national sales in September reached 16,128 units; bringing total sales for the brand up 3% year-to-date. The Subaru Northwest Region is leading the sales growth in the U.S. market, posting a strong September sales month with units totaling 2,660 vehicles up 13 percent over the previous September. This regional total brings the Subaru Northwest Region sales up 10% percent year-to-date from the previous year.

"September was a great month for Subaru in the Pacific Northwest," said Jim Pernas, regional vice president, Subaru Northwest Region, Subaru of America, Inc. "The combination of our trademark Subaru All-Wheel Drive and the red-hot small car, fuel-efficient segment bumped our Subaru Impreza sales up 69 percent in the region. As we get ready for winter and another snow season, we look for continued strong sales."

Regional Sales Highlights

Subaru Northwest Region sales were led by the Subaru Impreza, up an amazing 69 percent from the previous September. Also posting gains were the Legacy and Outback models. Carr Subaru of Portland continues to lead the nation in sales volume. And in fact, eight of the top 25 sales volume Subaru dealers (based on year-to-date totals) are located in the Subaru Northwest Region. They are listed below by U.S. sales volume rank:

   4.  Carter Subaru in Seattle, Wash.
   9.  Wentworth Subaru in Portland, Ore.
   10. Lithia Reno Subaru in Reno, Nev.

   13. Stevens Creek Subaru in San Jose, Calif.
   16. Chaplin's Subaru in Bellevue, Wash.
   24. Carlsen Subaru in Redwood City, Calif.

To help continue this positive sales growth in the Northwest for the upcoming snow and ski season, Subaru will be advertising on billboards on popular ski mountain roadways. One example of this region-specific creative is a billboard featuring the Subaru Outback that reads "Saves Money on Gas and Chains, it's what makes a Subaru, a Subaru."

Total US Subaru Sales by Model Line

Subaru sold 1,449 units of the Tribeca mid-size SUV during the month of September. The company also posted 6,448 units of Legacy vehicles for the month, with Subaru Outback posting 4,330 units of that model line total. Subaru Forester recorded 3,806 units, while Baja posted 631 units, up 13 percent, for the month. Subaru Impreza continues to post tremendous sales with a gain of 36 percent over the previous September, totaling 3,794 units.
