New Nationwide Commuter Study Supports U.S. Motorists’ Increasing Use of Live, in-Car TV and Internet

October 17, 2006: A study released today by the Transportation Research Board sheds new light on the continued growth of live mobile media systems that bring live TV and Internet to the passenger video screens installed in millions of vehicles on the road.

The "Commuting in America" study found that more commuters are traveling further and leaving home early than ever before - and concluded that workers with commutes longer than 60 minutes nearly doubled from 1990 to 2000.

Committed to helping U.S. commuters stay connected, KVH Industries launched two products over Labor Day that represent the next generation of live, in-car mobile media:

-- TracVision A7 live mobile satellite TV system - brings 185+ channels of national and local DIRECTV programming to the passenger monitors installed in millions of vehicles on the road.

-- TracNet 100 Mobile Internet Receiver with MSN TV service - brings MSN TV Internet connectivity and services to those same in-vehicle screens and turns the car into a rolling Wi-Fi hotspot.
