Machine Design Magazine's 'Smart Car' Award Winners to be Announced

     Continental Automotive Systems Division to Host Press Conference

  WHAT:    Continental Automotive Systems will host a press conference to
           announce the winners of Machine Design Magazine's "Smart Car"
           Ride and Drive event.

           Contested for the seventh year by Machine Design, the Ride and
           Drive competition recognizes the ever-changing technology in
           today's automotive market. This year, sixteen vehicles followed
           standard driving and parking procedures that allowed the drivers
           to evaluate the quality, comfort and "driver friendliness" of the
           emerging technologies. The two key components measured were
           comfort and safety.

           Winners from the four categories: Safety and Security; Highest IQ;
           Best Value; and Judge's Award have been selected and will be
           announced.

           Immediately following the press conference, Continental will hold
           a brief cake cutting ceremony in celebration of the company's
           100th anniversary.
