Finalists Named in Chevy Super Bowl College Ad Challenge

DETROIT – Chevrolet and ad agency executives reviewed ad concepts submitted by student teams from across the country during the last few weeks, and selected five finalist teams to progress to the next round of the competition. Last weekend, Chevrolet welcomed these five student teams to Detroit for the next phase of the Chevy Super Bowl College Ad Challenge. Students received a behind-the-scenes tour of GM facilities, drove the Aveo, Cobalt and HHR, and spent time with ad agency executives to polish their presentations before they shared them with Chevrolet’s executive team last Monday.

"We were thrilled to host the students last weekend. To help them prepare for the presentations to our executives we gave them access to our resources and staff," said Ed Peper, General Manager of Chevrolet. "We received submissions from across the country and greatly appreciate the thoughtful and unique ideas students shared with us. The finalists’ submissions represent the ideas that were most creative and captured the vitality of the Chevy brand,” said Peper.

The ad challenge was announced in early September and allowed college students the chance to compete for an opportunity to participate in the creation of one of Chevrolet's Super Bowl ads as their idea is developed, produced, and then aired during the big game on February 4, 2007. The student finalist teams and their colleges or universities are:

Kiley Moorefield of Granby, CT and Tyler Lesch from Glenwood, NJ; Elon University, North Carolina LouLou Quintela of Carlsbad, NM, Kelly Sherman of Yucaipa, CA, and Anna Pogosova from Cupertino, CA; San Jose State University, California Hubert Cheung, from Vancouver, Canada, Shlomo Goltz from Fort Wayne, IN, and Nathan Heigert from Chicago, IL; Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri Sean Wehrli of Davison, MI and Masahiro Wakabayashi of Savannah, GA; Savannah College of Art and Design, Savannah, Georgia Katelyn Crabb of North Prairie, WI; University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee The five finalist teams were selected from among hundreds of student teams on campuses around the nation. Each of the finalist teams was given an all-expense paid trip to Detroit and the opportunity to present their advertising concept to Chevrolet executives. In the coming months, the winning team will be immersed in the advertising production experience when their concept is turned into a commercial for Super Bowl XLI.

"Chevrolet is America's most beloved automotive brand, and we are looking forward to sharing this ad with the public at the Super Bowl," said Peper. “We want to thank all of the students for participating and for sending us their ad concepts – so many of the ideas were just great,” he said.
