LEVERKUSEN, Germany - November 28, 2006: Following on the heels of its successful Zoom-Zoom Photo Contest, Mazda Motor Europe has initiated a video contest as part of market launch for the new Mazda MX-5 Roadster Coupe, which is now rolling out across Europe*.

The venue is an interactive Mazda Motor Europe website with the address www.12secondthriller.com. It features the power retractable hard top version of the world’s best-loved roadster – whose electric roof opens or closes in an industry-best 12 seconds – as main character in several videos based on classic thriller motifs.

Visitors can create their own thriller shots with Mazda’s new Roadster Coupe by clicking on the website’s Create Your Own link. Here a number of different virals can be combined according to genre and main character, which result in a surprising and fun film experience.

The website is also venue for a film contest with a grand prize of a new Mazda MX-5 Roadster Coupe. Budding filmmakers are urged to capture their own thrilling moment on video. It should be no longer than 20 seconds and show a situation that is fun, unexpected or unusual in a cheeky, Zoom-Zoom way. Clicking on the website’s Thrill Us to Win link will allow uploading of the video. Each submission will be reviewed and, if found appropriate, placed online at the site for viewing until the contest closes on 31st January 2007.

A jury consisting of Creative Director Eddie Greenwood, website producer Scott Bedford and Seamus Masterson, director of the site’s virals, will then select the 10 best videos from all films submitted. From these, a grand price winner will be chosen. This person will receive the keys to a new Mazda MX-5 Roadster Coupe at the 2007 Geneva Motor Show on 8th March, while the nine runner-ups will receive a BOSE SoundDock™ Digital Music System with an iPod nano.
