Electric Car Pioneer ZAP Charged Up by California Governor's State of the State Address

SACRAMENTO, Calif.--California automotive manufacturer ZAP (OTCBB:ZAAP) issued praise for Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger's State of the State Address in which he ordered a 10 percent reduction in motor vehicle emissions of greenhouse gases, mainly carbon dioxide.

Among the many reforms proposed by the California Governor, Schwarzenegger calls for a new generation of alternative fuels, including an order to add more electric and ethanol powered vehicles to the state's fleet.

“Our cars have been running on dirty fuel for too long,” said Governor Schwarzenegger. “Our country has been dependent on foreign oil for too long. So I ask you to set in motion the means to free ourselves from oil; to free ourselves from OPEC.”

ZAP is now delivering electric cars and trucks that meet U.S. Department of Transportation standards. The Santa Rosa, California based company is ramping up fleet sales and dealer distribution throughout the world. At the same time, ZAP has invested in a new Brazilian micro-sports car called OBVIO !, which can run exclusively on ethanol, gasoline or any combination.
