Volvo S80 Holiday Gift Wrap Donation Presented to Charitable Organizations

ROCKLEIGH, N.J., Jan. 12, 2007 -- Volvo Cars of North America, LLC (VCNA) today presented checks to three charities who participated in last month's Volvo S80 Holiday Gift Wrap program. The organizations were the Shelter Our Sisters ($5,000.00), American Cancer Society ($9,127.42) for their work at the Garden State Plaza in New Jersey, and Merrick Kiwanis Foundation ($15,793.00) for its work at Roosevelt Field Mall in Long Island, New York.

Michelle Andryshak, Linda L. Nicholas, and, Renee Scharoff and Susan Helsinger accepted the donations on behalf of their respective charities at the VCNA regional office in Rockleigh, New Jersey. The Volvo S80 Holiday Gift Wrap program, organized and sponsored by Volvo Cars at select malls during the holiday season, provided shoppers the opportunity to have their gifts wrapped for a fee while they shopped. All proceeds from the program were matched dollar for dollar by VCNA and presented in the form of an oversized check to the club today with Volvo employees in attendance.

Shelter Our Sisters, American Cancer Society, and Merrick Kiwanis Foundation were among six nonprofit organizations to receive donations from VCNA across the nation. A total of $62,244.42 is being distributed to agencies in California, New Jersey and New York. Each was selected because their commitments reflect Volvo's core values and sense of social responsibility: Shelter Our Sisters for its focus on assisting women and children who are victims of domestic violence by providing transitional housing, support and a diversified continuum of services focused on safety, empowerment and self-sufficiency; the American Cancer Society for its commitment to eliminating cancer as a major health problem through research, education, advocacy and service; and, Merrick Kiwanis Foundation for its vision of changing the world one child and one community at a time.
