American Graffiti Stars at Perfomance World Custom Car & Truck Show

Wednesday, February 14, 2007 (Toronto) - In 1973, the world was introduced to a movie that has since become a classic. American Graffiti brought the 1960's back to life with supped-up cars and drag racing. Performance World Custom Car and Truck Show is pleased to welcome three actors from this great movie to the 2007 show - Mackenzie Phillips, Candy Clark and Bo Hopkins. The hardcore show for car enthusiasts rides into the International Centre (6900 Airport Road) from March 9-11, 2007 with custom cars and trucks competing for $50,000 in cash and awards. On top of the not-to-miss feature cars and personalities, the event boasts more than 600 top show cars and trucks and over 250 exhibitors, covering 350,000 square feet.

American Graffiti was a nostalgic look at the 1960's. When two boys were scheduled to leave for college the next morning, they spend a final night cruising the strip with their friends - a night of many adventures including drag racing, a trip to Inspiration Point and MEL'S drive-in. Mackenzie Phillips (Carol), who was only 14 years old during American Graffiti, went on to enjoy a career in acting, most notably the role of Julie on One Day at a Time. She has appeared in some of the hottest shows including ER, 7th Heaven, NYPD Blues, Without a Trace and Crossing Jordan, to name but a few.

Candy Clark, who played the role of Debbie Dunham, has also continued to appear in film and television since wrapping up American Graffiti. The Man Who Fell to Earth, Hunter, Magnum PI, St. Elsewhere and Buffy the Vampire Slayer are only a few of the many shows and films in which she has enjoyed a role. Candy was nominated for an Academy Award for best supporting actress for her portrayal of Debbie.

Bo Hopkins (Joe the Pharaoh) started his acting career in the 1960's, before American Graffiti even existed in the mind of George Lucas. He appeared in Bonanza, The Andy Griffith Show and the Mod Squad prior to 1973 and has since been seen in Dynasty, Charlie's Angels, The A Team and the most recently in The Road Home. His movie credits include The Newton Boys, City of Ghosts and Shade, among many others.
