CELEBRITY CARS TO BE SOLD AT WORLD-RENOWN AUCTION

SAN FRANCISCO - August 14, 2007: The moment is just days away. Each summer for the last decade car connoisseurs from around the world have come to anticipate the annual Bonhams & Butterfields automotive auction during the world-famous Monterey Peninsula Car Week, also known as Pebble Beach Week.

Each year a diverse array of superlative cars crosses the Bonhams auction block and exchanges hands, or "stewards", the world around. Some of the cars are known for their racing heritage, some for their historic pedigree, and some for their rarity or striking beauty. Often times, some are known for their provenance or even their contribution to popular culture, and so it is for several of the automobiles being offered at Bonhams' sale this year. Some of these include:

• 1916 Oldsmobile Model 44 Roadster formerly owned by casino impresario and renowned car enthusiast Bill Harrah.

• 1932 Presidential Cadillac V-16 Imperial Limousine from the Herbert Hoover administration.

• 1935 Pierce-Arrow Model 845 Club Sedan featured in the movie "The Sting", starring Paul Newman and Robert Redford.

• 1950 Jaguar MkV Drophead Coupe formerly owned by famous jazz musician and actress Lena Horne.

• 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 JL8 "Big Brake" Sport Coupe formerly owned by L.A. Times publisher Otis Chandler.

• 1984 Pontiac Firebird "KITT" from the Knight Rider TV series, and owned by famous Hollywood car customizer George Barris.

• 1990 Chevy Lumina Winston Cup NASCAR racer featured in the movie "Days of Thunder", starring Tom Cruise and Robert Duvall.

But hopeful buyers will need to register soon. The 10th annual Bonhams & Butterfields Auction of Important Collectors' Motorcars takes place this coming Friday, August the 17th, at Quail Lodge in Carmel, California.
