Washington DC August 28, 2007; The AIADA newsletter reported that plummeting sales, a string of hefty annual losses, and a botched marketing strategy have pushed Jaguar to the brink.

But, according to Automotive News, the 2008 XF could change all of that. Jaguar has created a car that will challenge such luxury stalwarts as the Mercedes-Benz E class and BMW 5 series. "This is the physical representation of everything we've been talking about for the past three years," said Bibiana Boerio, Jaguar Cars Ltd.'s outgoing managing director.

"Craftsmanship and attention to detail are what we want to stand for. We lost it, and now we have it back." Jaguar's Future Hinges on XF Sedan

The car occupies a potentially rich vein for Jaguar: the midluxury sedan segment. Volume in the segment is large enough that the XF could contribute significantly to the bottom line of Jaguar and its dealers.

Jaguar won't say the price yet, but Boerio said a loaded XF would cost somewhere between $64,500 and $75,500.
