Edmunds.com: Why Nation's Cleanest Gasoline-Fueled Cars Are Not Available in All States

SANTA MONICA, Calif.--Edmunds Inc., publisher of four Web sites that empower, engage and educate automotive consumers and enthusiasts, launched Green Car Advisor, led by veteran automotive journalist John ODell, now available at http://blogs.edmunds.com/greencaradvisor/.

The automotive green scene has grown immensely over the past couple of years as manufacturers and other companies are looking to find new ways to help keep our air clean, gas consumption low and environment safe, said Senior Editor John ODell. Green Car Advisor will keep consumers, environmentalists and manufacturers abreast of the latest happenings in the automotive environmental scene.

Green Car Advisor will provide news and commentary on environmental trends and technologies in the automotive world. In addition to product news on hybrid, electric and diesel cars, Green Car Advisor will cover new technologies and alternative fuels, battery developments and key political and economical issues surrounding the green automotive landscape.

Green Car Advisors current feature story, Nations Cleanest Gasoline Cars Are Not Available to All looks at how sales of the nations cleanest gasoline-fueled cars are being blocked in most states even as pressures mount to put cleaner, more efficient cars on the road. These vehicles, also known as Partial Zero-Emission Vehicles (PZEVs) are being kept out of showrooms in 35 states because of conflicting government regulations and automakers unwillingness to spend money to get them certified in these orphaned states.

Stories already available in Green Car Advisor include: the latest on the fight to regulate greenhouse gases; a look at a brewing war over plug-in hybrid technologies, and General Motorss idea of keeping the cost down on its promised Chevrolet Volt electric car by renting or leasing its batteries to customers.

"Edmunds is committed to providing our members with the most comprehensive coverage of green car news and commentary available anywhere," explains Matthew Kumin, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Edmunds.com Media. "Were continuing to see an increase in Web traffic for alternative fuel vehicles and Green Car Advisor will be an industry leading source keeping consumers informed on current and upcoming vehicle news and technology."
