Toyota Statement on U.S. House of Representatives' Passage of Cafe Legislation

WASHINGTON, DC - December 7, 2007: Toyota congratulates Congressional leaders for passing this ground-breaking legislation. We at Toyota have long said that we want a CAFE bill passed this year, and the U.S. House of Representatives has delivered. This agreement represents a major step in the right direction that will result in significant oil savings and reductions in CO2.

We look forward to the Senate's action on CAFE legislation. Automakers, including Toyota, need the certainty of one national plan to be able to make the additional investment necessary to move forward.

This bill sets a high standard. Toyota will strive to meet it.
