Audi R8 to go on sale in China on January 17 - VIDEO ENHANCED

SHANGHAI - January 7, 2008:

Audi R8 sports car will finally go on sale in the Chinese market in the middle of January, Chinese auto media reported.

The Audi R8 will sell at a bit less than 2 million yuan ($274,914). Meantime Audi A5 will also go on sale in March, which will be priced at 700,000 yuan ($96,220) to 850,000 yuan ($113,863).

Audi R8 sports car will be equipped with V10 engine similar to Lamborghini Gallardo, and it accelerates to 62 mph in 4.2 seconds. The A5 model will come with a 3.2L six-cylinder engine and accelerate to 62 mph in 8.4 seconds.

Audi has maintained its leading position in Chinese luxury vehicle market by selling 85,876 vehicles in the first eleven months of the year, an increase of 25.7 percent year on year.
