SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Jan. 8, 2008 -- Jason Vines, former Vice President of Communications for Chrysler LLC, joins AutoBeat Daily this week as a special columnist on assignment at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

Vines will provide daily insider comments in AutoBeat Daily beginning Friday, January 11- just ahead of media preview days at the North American International Auto Show. He also will blog about the automotive industry and the auto show online at www.autobeatdaily.com.

In addition, Vines will appear on-air with his commentary on WWJ Newsradio 950. He also can be heard on WWJ's Auto Show Streaming Channel, presented by Onstar, which debuted Monday on www.wwj.com.

"I'm delighted to bring Jason's unique insight to our readers," said AutoBeat Daily Publisher Bill Hampton. "His direct, to-the-point style fits perfectly with our editorial mission."

"Having someone of Jason's breadth of experience will provide WWJ listeners with an unparalleled behind-the-scenes view of the Auto Show," added WWJ Vice President and General Manager Rich Homberg. "His knowledge and perspective is invaluable."

Vines resigned in December from Chrysler LLC, prompting a realignment of that company's corporate communications. Vines began his career at Chrysler Corporation in 1983, serving first as an economics researcher in the Labor Relations Department and later through various assignments in Employee Communications and Public Relations. He left Chrysler in 1998 and became Vice President-Communications for Nissan North America. In February 2000, he was appointed Vice President-Communications for Ford Motor Company. He returned to Chrysler in 2003 as Vice President-Communications.

"This is one of the most important auto shows in the history for Detroit's automakers," said Vines. I'm thrilled to help cover it for WWJ and AutoBeat Daily."

The North American International Auto Show in Detroit is scheduled from January 13 through January 27, 2008.
