Nissan Names New Head of India Operations

TOKYO - February 1, 2008: Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. (NML) today announced that Shohei Kimura has been named vice president, India Project, NML. He will be based at the company's headquarters until his move to India. Kimura will be the head for Nissan's business interests and activities in India.

Since its establishment in February 2005, Nissan Motor India Private Limited (NMIPL) has been engaged in import and distribution of Nissan vehicles namely the X-TRAIL and Teana, as well as sales promotion and market research in India. Together with its Alliance partner, Renault, Nissan is now in the process of establishing a plant in Chennai , extending NMIPL’s function to include manufacturing.

Kimura will eventually assume the role of managing director and chief executive officer of NMIPL. Kimura will work closely with Yoshie Motohiro, who will continue to oversee the marketing and sales function of NMIPL.

Commenting on the new assignments, Colin Dodge, senior vice president and chairman of Management Committee-Global Overseas Market said: "As we begin our full operations in India, I am confident that we have a solid team in place. I would like to welcome Mr. Kimura to our team. Mr. Kimura has extensive knowledge of Nissan's global operations and international automotive experience. I look forward to his leadership for Nissan in India."

Kimura has worked at Nissan since 1979. Prior to this new assignment, he has held various management positions in the Production Technology Department and the Materials Technology Department both in Japan and the US. Most recently he served as the general manager of the Oppama Plant. Kimura has a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Shizuoka.

Succeeding Kimura will be Seiji Honda, currently general manager of Nissan’s Body Assembly Engineering Department, Vehicle Production Engineering Division.

Our operations in India will include manufacturing, marketing and sales, after-service, R&D, engineering and global business process support.
