GENEVA - March 6, 2008: With great fanfare, Lancia unveiled its stunning
new Delta at the 78th Geneva Motor Show. Delta: a name that embodies all
the strength of one of the highest moments in automotive history as well as
a name that means ‘difference’ in mathematical terms; a
difference conceived as evolution, improvement, excellence. This reflects
its original unique positioning, bringing together two salient traits of
the brand: elegance of styling and the bold, pioneering spirit that has
always been a prerogative of Lancia. Thus, the birth of Delta is
characterised by a number of substantial ‘deltas’.

Innovation,first of all:
Delta is the first totally new car to debut in Lancia’s
second century. Its evolutive ‘delta’ lies in its ability to
harmonise Lancia’s traditional elegance with original solutions that
combine the gumption of a sports car with the onboard comfort of a great
sedan. The model evokes and brings into the future the tradition of the
‘great’ Lancia cars of the past. From the Aprilia to the Appia,
from the Fulvia to the Beta, from the Prisma to the Dedra, and all the way
up to the Lybra, and takes its rightful place in the medium sedan segment.
Its figures? 4.5 in length, 1.8 wide and 1.5 high: dimensions that ensure
outstanding habitability in this class.
Then, attention to details:
the interior ensures a journey where comfort indubitably plays the star role.
Valuable materials, harmonious colours and prestigious accoutrements: an
original sound-absorbent ceiling makes for unheard of muted running, the
GranLuce roof and the glazed surfaces along the sides ensure unparalleled
luminosity. A veritable living room, thanks to the sliding rear seat with
reclining back, and the huge, modular trunk. Furthermore, focus on
technology: on the Delta, every trip is full optional. Bose Hi-Fi radio
with CD and MP3 player and steering wheel-mounted controls, Blue&Me™,
a navigation system that is both innovative and easy to use.
And finally,power:
diesel and petrol turbo engines, with power outputs from 120 to 200
HP, and manual, robotised or automatic gearboxes. Engine performance is
exalted by the use of innovative safety systems making for improved
driveability, such as the latest versions of the ESC and the SDC. With its
diesel engines the Lancia Delta anticipates compliance with the limits
imposed by the future Euro 5 standards: a “delta” that benefits
the environment without giving up on the results.
