New Web Site Allows Auto Dealers to Post Career Opportunities Online

McLEAN, Va., March 21 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- An auto dealership's success hinges on the people it employs. And, with more than 100,000 jobs available today at the nation's new-car and truck dealerships, there's no shortage of individually rewarding career opportunities in the retail-auto industry.

To help auto dealers recruit employees via the Web, the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) has launched a new, online interactive job board, Automotive Careers Online. The site, http://www.automotivecareersonline.com/, is similar to other career job boards, such as Monster.com or Careerbuilder.com, but is tailored only to dealership positions.

"With a focus exclusively on careers available at new car and truck dealerships, the Web site offers both job seekers and dealers an easy way to connect online," says NADA Chairman Annette Sykora.

Dealers can quickly post and manage their job listings online and have access to a searchable resume database. Dealers can view applications and receive e-mail alerts when qualified candidates post a resume.

And job seekers can post resumes free on the site. Job seekers will get automatic e-mail notification when their resume matches a dealership's job criteria.

Automotive Careers Online: How It Works

A dealership posting a job on NADA's new site (http://www.automotivecareersonline.com/) can receive instant e-mail alerts once a candidate applies via the Web site and meets the job qualifications (education, training, and so on), which the dealership can establish up front. Dealers also get e-mail alerts if someone expresses interest in a position. The dealership may then contact the applicant whenever the time is right -- or keep resumes on file.

A candidate posting a resume may remove any confidential information -- such as contact phone numbers and e-mail addresses -- which is then stored and easily retrieved if the candidate gives the green light. In addition, job applicants get e-mail alerts when new jobs are posted. Openings posted on NADA's Automotive Careers Online will also be listed on several job aggregator sites, such as Googlebase.com and SimplyHired.com. (Source: AutoExec magazine)

Job Seekers Wanted

A recent poll sponsored by Automotive Retailing Today, an educational consortium of automakers and dealers, reported more than 100,000 jobs available at U.S. dealerships today. And they're not limited to one department. Many dealerships need personnel in sales, automotive service, administration, parts and service.

Automotive Careers Online breaks down career opportunities by dealership department and location, making it easy for job seekers to find positions that match their qualifications.

"Having the right people in the right positions makes the difference," says John Lyboldt, NADA vice president of dealer services. "A presence on the Web allows people to look at our industry and find out what career opportunities are out there."

NADA, founded in 1917 and based in McLean, Va., represents about 20,000 new-car and truck dealerships with nearly 43,000 separate franchises, both domestic and import.
