HANOVER - September 17, 2008: There is yet another opportunity to win a manager: For the fourth time, Junge Karriere, the Handelsblatt magazine aimed at career starters, wants to offer high school students a practice oriented insight into the world of a top manager. Continental's Executive Board member responsible for human resources and Director of Labor Relations Heinz-Gerhard Wente is this year's "Top prize" in the "Win a manager" [“Chef zu gewinnen”] campaign. High school classes from all over Germany have until September 30 to apply.

"Commerce is an exciting topic. It is important to be able to wake students' interest in the work that goes on in companies. As an international automotive supplier, Continental is reliant on the next top class generation. I therefore did not hesitate when asked if I would take part in the “Win a manager” campaign" said Mr. Wente as he explained his personal commitment. This year approximately 600 young people will start their training with Continental in Germany. In Germany a total of around 2,000 trainees are employed by Continental. In addition, every year approximately 1,200 college graduates worldwide, amongst them about 400 graduates from Germany, start their career with Continental.

The “Junge Karriere” initiative annually focuses on high school classes or courses at high schools, city colleges, vocational schools and vocational high schools all across Germany. Classes wishing to participate can try and "win" one of a total of eight top managers by answering questions about the companies taking part and submitting a striking application letter. A jury will then nominate the winning schools from the best applications.

Last year Dr. Alan Hippe, a member of Continental's Executive Board, was one of the "Top prizes" that could be won; he has since visited one of the winning classes.

Continental received a visit from students from the Lüneburger Heide high school in Melbeck on September 15. In addition to a talk with Mr. Hippe, who recently became the deputy Chairman of the Executive Board of Continental, the students had the possibility to glean information about training opportunities within the company.
