MELBOURNE, Australia – December 2, 2008: GM Holden’s highly acclaimed VE Commodore range has won the carsales.com Ltd People’s Choice Award in the large car category for the sixth consecutive year.

Carsales.com Ltd, Australia’s number one automotive classifieds company, announced the award today after online car buyers voted for their favourite vehicles using one of its websites, including carsales.com.au, CarPoint.com.au and Redbook.com.au.

Carsales Editor in Chief, Mike Sinclair said the awards were the only popular poll where car buyers determined the awards themselves.

“These awards are a true indication of the cars that really make the grade on car buyers' shopping lists,” Sinclair said.

“This is the ultimate popularity contest so for Commodore to take this award away for the sixth consecutive year shows that the remarkable love affair between Australian drivers and Holden’s signature large car just goes on and on.”

GM Holden Executive Director for Sales, Marketing and Aftersales, Alan Batey said the award was a fantastic achievement.

“To receive this honour for the sixth year in a row is something that makes everyone at Holden very proud,” Batey said.

“Consumer accolades are the ultimate recognition and reflect the fact that Commodore has been the bestselling vehicle in Australia for the past 12 years.”

Votes were collected from the Carsales Network websites between 1 November, 2007 and 31 October, 2008.
